Rickshaw Driver Knocked Down By Aditya Narayan Is Still Almost Unconscious
14 days into the accident, and the family of the rickshaw driver is still reeling. Finally, they break down in an exclusive telephonic conversation with SpotboyE.com on how bad the state of the 64-year-old’s health is. He’s still at Kokilaben Ambani Hospital, Andheri…
At 5:30pm on March 12, singer Udit Narayan’s son Aditya’s Mercedes knocked an auto rickshaw, severely injuring the driver. The 64-year-old was rushed to Kokilaben Ambani Hospital and admitted to the ICU.
Since then, a large section of the media has forgotten about the unfortunate incident. However, we have been concerned because the poor man battling for his life, is far from being back on the driver’s seat.
We got to know that Udit and Aditya were bearing the expenses of the rickshaw driver’s treatment.
And even though there has been no word on the old man’s health, we at SpotboyE.com have been concerned and have been constantly trying get in touch with the his family. Finally, we managed to speak to them, this evening.
This is the exact sorry state of affairs they find them in:
The rickshaw driver’s condition is still very bad, even though thankfully he’s out of danger. In the last two agonising weeks, he hasn’t shown the slightest of movement. He hasn’t uttered a word since the accident, nor has he identified any of his family members.
The only glimmer of hope is that since he has been moved from the ICU to the Stroke Unit, he’s trying to open his eyes a little and move his left side (only very slightly) while still mostly unconscious. Obviously, there is injury to his brain.
The Auto Driver On The Hospital Bed
The family is financially weak. The driver used to work in a mill earlier, and since it shut down, he had much difficulty finding work. Finally he loaned money from various friends and family members to buy a rickshaw, which unfortunately soon got stolen.
But since he found rickshaw-driving a sensible and secure way to earn his livelihood, he approached the bank for a loan to buy another rickshaw (the one he was driving when he met with the accident). He was paying Rs 7000, as monthly EMI on the rickshaw.
Aditya Narayan
Even with his monthly earnings, the financial condition of his family was far from comfortable. In fact, debt-ridden, as they were, they barely were managing to make ends meet.
Fate can sometimes be extremely cruel!
